The 7-Step Silver Jewelry Mold Process

Step 1: 3D Design & Rendering (1–2 days)
Rhino/ZBrush 3D modeling with rendered previews. Client approves before prototyping.

Step 2: Wax Prototyping (2–3 days)
Hand-carved wax or 3D wax-printed master. This step determines precision and feel.

Step 3: Rubber Mold Making (1 day)
Silicone mold cast from the wax master, reusable for 500–1000 wax injections.

Step 4: Wax Injection (half day)
Molten wax injected into the rubber mold, producing a wax tree with 20–50 jewelry wax models.

Step 5: Lost Wax Casting (1 day)
Wax tree encased in plaster, wax burned out, 925 silver poured in. Plaster broken after cooling.

Step 6: Finishing & Filing (1–2 days)
Pieces cut from the tree, sprues filed, pores filled, deformities corrected.

Step 7: Polishing & Plating (1–2 days)
Rough polish → fine polish → ultrasonic cleaning → rhodium/gold/rose-gold plating → QC.

Timeline & Cost

Design to approved sample: 7–15 days. Mold fees range $70–$420 depending on complexity; refundable on orders of 500+ pieces.
